Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol have issued a “Blue Alert” Tuesday after a law enforcement officer was shot and seriously hurt while conducting a traffic stop. The alert issued Tuesday indicates it was issued out of North Kansas City, Missouri.Officials said a male officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in question, the driver got out of the vehicle and started firing at the officer, causing serious injury. The officer is believed to be in life-threatening condition.Authorities are searching for a gray Ford Taurus with Missouri temporary tag 03GU43. The driver has only been identified as a white male with brown hair, carrying an unknown firearm. The initial incident happened on 21st Street in North Kansas City at 10:41 a.m. The vehicle was last seen heading westbound on 21st Street from Clay Street.
