Watch out for scams using Deep Fake Technology – Newstalk KZRG

Scammers are using Deep Fake Technology to impersonate Elon Musk delivering a get rich quick scheme.

You may come through a video while going through Social Media or, perhaps, after having it sent to you by a friend.

The video looks real and sounds real but even though it looks authentic, scammers have actually used sophisticated Deep Fake Technology and existing footage of Musk.

“If you follow the links that come with the video, you will be scammed,” says Stephanie Garland of the Better Business Bureau.

“Do your research to find out what the real person actually believes in,” she advises.  “You can go to the person’s personal website or company website. Don’t act immediately and, of course, don’t believe everything you see on social media.”
